By working closely with you, Sylvia will customize the nutritional evaluation, follow-ups and program to meet your personal needs.
Your first consultation will last 30 minutes and will
enable Sylvia to determine the reason why you have decided to consult,
your expectations and goals, medical history (actual and/or past health
issues), intake of medications and/or supplements, anthropometric
measurements (weight, waist measurement, body mass index, etc.),
biochemical values, diet history and exercise habits.
Furthermore, she will complete a 24 hour food recall and a food
frequency questionnaire with you, in order to learn more about your
eating pattern, meal schedule, food preferences and aversions, portion
sizes, etc.
Sylvia will then analyze all the information obtained during this first consultation and prepare for you a customized program outlining the dietary changes and specific tips to help you achieve your goals. Sylvia will also create a meal plan that meets your personal needs, ensures you reach or maintain your weight goal, includes a list of foods you should choose more of and those you should be avoiding, as well as examples of well balanced meals, snacks and what an ideal portion size of different foods looks like. Sylvia will give you the documents and explain them to you in detail during your second meeting and first follow-up of 30 minutes. You are now on your way to a healthy start!
Sylvia recommends at least two additional 30 minute
follow-ups
in order to review and evaluate your food journal, your progress, your
understanding and application of the changes she recommended for your
eating habits, and provide you with the support critical to your
success.
Extra 30 minute follow-up meetings are also available.
To alleviate the process for those who have a very busy schedule,
the Nutrition Consultations described
above and normally offered in in Private
Practice are also
available via phone and email follow-ups.

During the first follow-up meeting Sylvia will discuss with you the content of your pantry, refrigerator and freezer, help you learn how to read food labels, give you tips on how to make healthier food choices and teach you about foods you should add or remove from your shopping list.
The purpose of your second 60 minute follow-up meeting with Sylvia
will be to review and evaluate your food journal, your progress, your
understanding and application of the changes she recommended for your
eating habits, and provide you with the support critical to your
success.
Extra 60 minute follow-ups are also available.
This service is ideal for those who prefer the anonymity and confidentiality of the Internet or, those who simply wish to receive a prompt reply to a nutrition or health related query, without having to wait until the next follow-up and have to schedule time and move around to receive this service!
This service is useful for those who would like to have a quick answer to a simple question concerning a food or particular subject in nutrition and do not have the time to look for the answer themselves.
This service does not allow you to exchange with Sylvia. In the
event where following Sylvia’s answer to your question, you may have
another question to ask her, you will have to purchase another Basic
Rapido-Presto Service.
This is a more elaborated and customized service and is recommended for those with one or more of the following conditions: high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, gastro-intestinal problems, etc. In all of these cases, more than one exchange with Sylvia is required.
This service is also advised for those who wish to gain or lose weight, develop healthier eating habits, discover new foods, learn how to cook healthier, lighten up their meals or simply add more variety to their daily menu.
Once you have purchased the desired package, Sylvia will send you a
questionnaire by email which will enable her to determine the reason
why you have decided to purchase these email exchanges, your
expectations and goals, your medical history (actual or and past health
issues), intake of medications and/or supplements, anthropometric
measurements (weight, waist measurement, body mass index, etc.),
biochemical values, diet history and exercise habits. You will
also need to complete a 24 hour food recall and a food frequency
questionnaire.
Sylvia will then analyze all the information obtained from the two
questionnaires and send you a list of topics she recommends for your
email exchanges with her. You will then decide which topic(s)
is(are) of interest to you, may it be one she suggested or another one
altogether, and send her your first email request. Only once she
has replied to your first request, can you send her a second request by
email, until completion of the number of email exchanges you
purchased.
Packages are available for 4, 8 or 12 exchanges by email and include the analysis of the two questionnaires you will need to fill out.

She will meet you at the grocery store and will go through each food isle with you. She will supply you with specific selection criteria for each category of food. After this visit you will be capable to select in a wink of an eye foods that are more advantageous for your health and that of the members of your family. The visit can last approximately one hour and a half.
Are you lacking ideas? You grasp the notions and principles of healthy eating, but have a hard time applying them and planning out your weekly meals and snacks? Sylvia will prepare for you a one week menu (3 meals, 2-3 snacks daily) taking into account your food preferences and aversions, as well as send you healthy recipes and a grocery list for the week.
Would you like to find healthier versions to your favorite traditional homemade recipes? Sylvia can help you! She will take your recipes and replace or substitute certain ingredients with healthier ones, modify quantities, add new ingredients, analyze and suggest healthier cooking methods, all of which will help you get the same great taste, if not better, without the extra fat, sugar, salt or calories and gain more nutrition with every bite!
